Remembrance Day Book of Remembrance. This year November 8th is Remembrance Sunday. Last year the museum committee honoured the legacy of service and dedication to duty of those who served in the Armed Forces. We invited St. Peter’s parishioners, who had a late relative that answered the call to serve their country, to place their names in our Book of Remembrance. This book was placed on the altar along with the Honour Roll for the Remembrance Sunday service and was later displayed in the Bell Tower. If you would like to add to our Book of Remembrance for a late veteran who served for the Canadian or other Armed Forces, please complete the form which is on the table in the Narthex. Completed forms can be handed into the office, or sent via email to museums@stpeterserindale.ca.

The names of loved ones who were named in The Book of Remembrance last year will remain. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Kim Lemiski. Submissions should be no later then November 6th.

Pastoral Care & Lay Home Communion Ministries. As we continue rebuilding after the pandemic, we are revamping two important ministries: our Pastoral Care Ministry and our Lay Home Communion Ministry. Both ministries provide vital care and remind homebound community members and those going through difficult times that they are not alone. Below is information about both ministries.

Pastoral Visitors help clergy extend pastoral care and practical assistance to community members who need care and connection. They will provide care through monthly home visits, Zoom calls, and/or phone calls. They will meet regularly with clergy to share any important information.

Lay Home Communion Visitors will go out in pairs to take Sunday communion to some of our members in need. During the visit, the Home Communion Visitors will lead the provided liturgy and share communion.

Those interested in participating in either ministry must complete a police check, Safe Church training, and the St. Peter's training for these roles. If you are interested in serving with either of these ministries, please email Rev. Yaa at associate@stpeterserindale.ca by November 7th.

2027 Canadian Church Calendars for sale - $7.00 each. We only have a small supply but can order more. Call or email the church office (905-828-2095 or stpeters@stpeterserindale.ca) to reserve your copy.

We Are Mask Friendly. As we continue into cold and flu season, a reminder that your health is most important as we care for everyone in our midst. A reminder that there are bottles of sanitizer in each pew and masks available in the narthex for use. If you are feeling under the weather, you can always worship on Sunday through our Zoom services. Thank you for your care of this community.

Territorial Acknowledgment

(written by the Rev. Lee Claus)

This land is Sacred.

It has been anointed for tens of thousands of years with the dust and bones of all those who lived here before us.

As we came here, we were invited to share this land with the original people, with a common love and concern for the land that we would live upon and share, in good ways.

To honour the conditions of the Dish-With-One-Spoon Wampum Treaty, we acknowledge that such treaty agreements were not to be considered as land surrenders; but to be considered as agreements of sharing together.

We are all treaty people. May we live with respect on this land, and live in peace and friendship with its people.

The Collect for Purity

Officiant: ALMIGHTY God, unto whom all hearts be open, all desires known, and from whom no secrets are hid: Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of thy Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love thee, and worthily magnify thy holy Name; through Christ our Lord.

People: Amen.

The Great Commandment

Officiant: OUR Lord Jesus Christ said: Hear O Israel, The Lord our God is one Lord; and thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it: Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.

People: Lord, have mercy upon us, and write both these thy laws in our hearts, we beseech thee.

Lord have mercy upon us,

Christ have mercy upon us,

Lord have mercy upon us.

Officiant: The Lord be with you;

People: And with thy spirit.

Collect for the Day

Officiant: Let us pray.

Almighty and everliving God, increase in us your gift of faith, that forsaking what lies behind and reaching out to what is before, we may run the way of your commandments and win the crown of everlasting joy; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever.

People: Amen.

Lesson

Exodus 33:12-23

Reader: The Lesson is written in the 33rd chapter of Exodus, beginning at the 12th verse.

Moses said to the Lord, ‘See, you have said to me, “Bring up this people”; but you have not let me know whom you will send with me. Yet you have said, “I know you by name, and you have also found favour in my sight.” Now if I have found favour in your sight, show me your ways, so that I may know you and find favour in your sight. Consider too that this nation is your people.’ He said, ‘My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.’ And he said to him, ‘If your presence will not go, do not carry us up from here. For how shall it be known that I have found favour in your sight, I and your people, unless you go with us? In this way, we shall be distinct, I and your people, from every people on the face of the earth.’ The Lord said to Moses, ‘I will do the very thing that you have asked; for you have found favour in my sight, and I know you by name.’ Moses said, ‘Show me your glory, I pray.’ And he said, ‘I will make all my goodness pass before you, and will proclaim before you the name, “The Lord”; and I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will show mercy on whom I will show mercy. But’, he said, ‘you cannot see my face; for no one shall see me and live.’ And the Lord continued, ‘See, there is a place by me where you shall stand on the rock; and while my glory passes by I will put you in a cleft of the rock, and I will cover you with my hand until I have passed by; then I will take away my hand, and you shall see my back; but my face shall not be seen.’

Here endeth the Lesson.

Gospel

Matthew 22:15-22

Gospeller: The Holy Gospel is written in the 22nd chapter of the Gospel according to St. Matthew, beginning at the 15th verse.

People: Glory be to thee, O Lord.

Then the Pharisees went and plotted to entrap him in what he said. So they sent their disciples to him, along with the Herodians, saying, ‘Teacher, we know that you are sincere, and teach the way of God in accordance with truth, and show deference to no one; for you do not regard people with partiality. Tell us, then, what you think. Is it lawful to pay taxes to the emperor, or not?’ But Jesus, aware of their malice, said, ‘Why are you putting me to the test, you hypocrites? Show me the coin used for the tax.’ And they brought him a denarius. Then he said to them, ‘Whose head is this, and whose title?’ They answered, ‘The emperor’s.’ Then he said to them, ‘Give therefore to the emperor the things that are the emperor’s, and to God the things that are God’s.’ When they heard this, they were amazed; and they left him and went away.

Gospeller: The Gospel of Christ.

People: Praise be to thee, O Christ.

Homily

The Rev. Robert Townshend

The Creed

Officiant: Let us confess our faith as we say,

Together: I BELIEVE in one God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, And of all things visible and invisible:

And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, Begotten of the Father before all worlds; God, of God; Light, of Light; Very God, of very God; Begotten, not made; Being of one substance with the Father; Through whom all things were made: Who for us and for our salvation came down from heaven,

And was incarnate by the Holy Ghost of the Virgin Mary, And was made man, And was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate. He suffered and was buried, And the third day he rose again according to the Scriptures, And ascended into heaven, And sitteth on the right hand of the Father. And he shall come again with glory to judge both the quick and the dead: Whose kingdom shall have no end. And I believe in the Holy Ghost, The Lord, The Giver of Life, Who proceedeth from the Father and the Son, Who with the Father and the Son together is worshipped and glorified, Who spake by the Prophets.

And I believe One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church. I acknowledge one Baptism for the remission of sins. And I look for the Resurrection of the dead, And the Life of the world to come. Amen.

The Peace

Officiant: THE peace of the Lord be always with you;

People: And with thy spirit.

The Intercession

Officiant: ALMIGHTY and everliving God, who by thy holy Apostle hast taught us to make prayers and supplications, and to give thanks, for all people: We humbly beseech thee most mercifully to receive these our prayers, which we offer unto thy Divine Majesty; beseeching thee to inspire continually the universal Church with the spirit of truth, unity, and concord: And grant that all they that do confess thy holy Name may agree in the truth of thy holy Word, and live in unity and godly love.

We beseech thee also to lead all nations in the way of righteousness; and so to guide and direct their governors and rulers, that thy people may enjoy the blessings of freedom and peace: And grant unto thy servant CHARLES our King, and to all that are put in authority under him, that they may truly and impartially administer justice, to the maintenance of thy true religion and virtue.

Give grace, O heavenly Father, to all Bishops, Priests, and Deacons, and specially to thy servants Shane, our Primate, Anne our Metropolitan, Andrew our Diocesan Bishop and Kevin and Riscylla our Suffragan Bishops, that they may both by their life and doctrine set forth thy true and living Word, and rightly and duly administer thy holy Sacraments: Prosper, we pray thee, all those who proclaim the Gospel of thy kingdom among the nations: And to all thy people give thy heavenly grace, and specially to this congregation here present, that, with meek heart and due reverence, they may hear and receive thy holy Word; truly serving thee in holiness and righteousness all the days of their life.

And we most humbly beseech thee of thy goodness, O Lord, to comfort and succour all them, who in this transitory life are in trouble, sorrow, need, sickness, or any other adversity, especially those for whom our prayers are desired.

Grant this, O Father, for Jesus Christ's sake, our only Mediator and Advocate, to whom, with thee and the Holy Ghost, be all honour and glory, world without end.

All: Amen.

Together: ALMIGHTY God, Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Maker of all things, Judge of all people: We acknowledge and confess our manifold sins and wickedness, Which we from time to time most grievously have committed, By thought, word, and deed, Against thy Divine Majesty. We do earnestly repent, And are heartily sorry for these our misdoings.
