To mark the first Sunday of Advent, St. Peter’s kicked off the season with an intergenerational event that included wreath making, Advent Crafts, carol singing and a hot chocolate bar.
The Engler Family (Fritz, Siegrid, Stephanie) and Elizabeth Boyes organized a selection of crafts and activities to create this very happy afternoon of Advent Celebration !
We gathered in the parish hall at 4 pm and together sang a few of our favourite Advent carols. Our director of music, Walt Leminski, played the piano and led us through O Come, O Come Emmanuel, Lo, He Comes With Clouds Descending, and When the King Shall Come Again.
Then we were invited to choose our Advent craft.
Those feeling handy/creative/adventurous were given a selection of fresh evergreens and a base, and were coached through the making of an advent wreath.
Or we could select from a range of wooden Christmas shapes to decorate an ornament. This was popular with many of the children, who were also invited to play a round of Christmas Bingo.
Rev. Roshni hosted a hot chocolate bar, where you could add whipped cream and marshmallows to suit your sweet tooth.
The event wrapped up with the singing of Hark, The Herald Angels Sing and, of course, laughter.
It was a joyful start to our Advent season.
